Lake Superior Carbon Balance Project
|
Project Overview This is a first attempt to close the carbon budget for one of the Great Lakes using numerical models and data. We aim to develop reliable estimates of lake-atmosphere CO2 fluxes on seasonal to decadal timescales and to identify key uncertainties in the carbon budget. Additionally, this project will contribute to efforts led by terrestrial carbon cycle scientists to understand the regional carbon budget. We are collaborating with Chin Wu and Ankur Desai of UW-Madison and Noel Urban of Michigan Technological University on this project. Data Aquisition Nazan Atilla received data from Vie Richardson at Enviro Canada. The data consist of temperature, POC, DO (% saturation and concentration), DOC and inorganic carbon depth profiles from 80 stations. N. Urban - The KITES mooring data have been uploaded and can be found on the Data page or the Files page. Noel Urban, Nazan Atilla and Dierk Polzin are working to get data from EPA and Enviro Canada. |
